True Grit

For Literacy some pupils in Years 10 and 11 have seen the film True Grit. As part of that work the pupils will be writing their review of the movie and they will be appearing on the Blog soon!

Carl's artwork

Hello, my artwork is based around an artist called Banksy. Banksy takes the mickey out of famous people and other artworks. I wanted to do some stencil artwork on Britanny Spears and her meltdown with her hair and Vivian from The Young Ones. So when I did my stencil I thought my final piece looked like a clown, so then I did the Joker off Batman. I think my final stencil looks good and I am pleased with it.

Hand by Hand

At first I just drew a hand off the top of my head but i noticed it wasnt very good so I tried putting my hand infront of me in a complex position and drawing it by looking at it more than my drawing and adding realistic detail. I still thought it wasn't very good so then I put it next to the first drawing so now I like the look of it.

Hand picture

I drew my hand, I spent 30 mins looking at my hand I did not look at the paper much. I think my drawing is good considering I thought I couldn't draw. I was using my right handside of the brain. By Matty.

Upside down drawing

In this picture I have been drawing a picture looking at it upside down.To do this I used the right side of my brain and tried to switch off the left side.I think that the picture I drew upside down was better than the one I drew using the left side of my brain because it had more detail and showed more in the picture,also it was more realistic than the other picture.

Arts and Crafts Key Stage 3 Style

In Art we asked the students to design and make a Clay tile. Using tribal patterns and then drybrushing using metallic copper these are the results which are on display in the Key Stage 3 Meeting room.

Countour drawings

Here are pictures by Mr Woolford, Dowson and Siobhan of a modified contour drawing where you spend 90% of the time looking at your hand. The results are impressively achieved in such a short space of time and show the PRU how much creativity can be buried. The last picture is of Carl's Tupac potrait which is a work in progress.

Learning to draw with the rightside of the brain.

In art we were asked to draw a picture of a person out of our heads. Then 20mins later I was asked to draw a picture by Picasso upside down. This was to get my right side of the brain to work. I think my drawing is fantastic by Siobhan

Learning to Draw

Art lessons in Key Stage 3 for the next half term are going to be about learning how to draw. These lessons will challenge the young people to see things in a different way and improve their drawing. Tomorrow sees the launch with some pre-instruction drawings. Here is an example of a before and after drawing. Fingers crossed for some similar results.
