George Shaw

George Shaw paints realistic landscapes of the council estate of his childhood. An exhibition of his work is currently featured at The Baltic. These are places that we all recognise and we can imagine the people and lives that take place on these streets. As one pupil said "He's painted Shameless...where's Frank Gallagher?" All our lives can be art.

New Banner !!

Check out our new banner that has been designed by a year 11 pupil called Jason. Thanks for your design and we are hoping to showcase some more designs as the year progresses.

Portraits

A common theme for artwork is portraits and one of our favourite artists is Vik Muniz, an artist from Brazil. Vik has produced large scale portraits of famous icons using unusual materials such as coffee beans, spaghetti and diamonds. Some of our young have in the past created their own portraits using Muniz as a reference.

The Future is Unwritten

Enjoy the work you see here. The people who created it havn't often had the opportunity to express themselves and in doing so are taking a great leap; exploring the work of artists and their own imaginations. They're 21st century explorers; doing it themselves, doing it about things that matter to them. They're the new punks and like Joe said the future, for them, is unwritten.
