Wot no post?
What's shocking is that there has not been an update since March! That's all to change as we start to upload some new artwork. In the meantime here is a poster I have done for a comic called Zombies2. I used the upside down technique to draw Mona Lisa

Carl's artwork
Hello, my artwork is based around an artist called Banksy. Banksy takes the mickey out of famous people and other artworks. I wanted to do some stencil artwork on Britanny Spears and her meltdown with her hair and Vivian from The Young Ones. So when I did my stencil I thought my final piece looked like a clown, so then I did the Joker off Batman. I think my final stencil looks good and I am pleased with it.

Hand by Hand
At first I just drew a hand off the top of my head but i noticed it wasnt very good so I tried putting my hand infront of me in a complex position and drawing it by looking at it more than my drawing and adding realistic detail. I still thought it wasn't very good so then I put it next to the first drawing so now I like the look of it.

Declan Drawings
These drawings took about 10 minutes each picture. These drawings are good because I used the right side of my brain. I thought I couldnt draw until I done these. By Declan
Hand picture
I drew my hand, I spent 30 mins looking at my hand I did not look at the paper much. I think my drawing is good considering I thought I couldn't draw. I was using my right handside of the brain. By Matty.
Upside down drawing
In this picture I have been drawing a picture looking at it upside down.To do this I used the right side of my brain and tried to switch off the left side.I think that the picture I drew upside down was better than the one I drew using the left side of my brain because it had more detail and showed more in the picture, also it was more realistic than the other picture.

Same old Shearer always scoring!
My name is Kieran and my favourite footballer is Alan Shearer and this is one of the first pictures I drew of him.
Hendrix Guitar RARE!
For your consideration, Liam presents a rare, customised Hendrix guitar. One genius owner. This guitar was saved from one of Hendrix's famous bonfires. Apparently last seen at Woodstock, Hendrix himself designed it's purple colouring and stripes. Yours for $1000000 (Cottage Cash.)
Above, Hendrix is seen with the guitar itself.

Countour drawings
Here are pictures by Mr Woolford, Dowson and Siobhan of a modified contour drawing where you spend 90% of the time looking at your hand. The results are impressively achieved in such a short space of time and show the PRU how much creativity can be buried. The last picture is of Carl's Tupac potrait which is a work in progress.
Learning to draw with the rightside of the brain.
In art we were asked to draw a picture of a person out of our heads. Then 20mins later I was asked to draw a picture by Picasso upside down. This was to get my right side of the brain to work. I think my drawing is fantastic by Siobhan

Learning to Draw
Art lessons in Key Stage 3 for the next half term are going to be about learning how to draw. These lessons will challenge the young people to see things in a different way and improve their drawing. Tomorrow sees the launch with some pre-instruction drawings. Here is an example of a before and after drawing. Fingers crossed for some similar results.

George Shaw
George Shaw paints realistic landscapes of the council estate of his childhood. An exhibition of his work is currently featured at The Baltic. These are places that we all recognise and we can imagine the people and lives that take place on these streets. As one pupil said "He's painted Shameless...where's Frank Gallagher?" All our lives can be art.

New Banner !!
Check out our new banner that has been designed by a year 11 pupil called Jason. Thanks for your design and we are hoping to showcase some more designs as the year progresses.
Portraits
A common theme for artwork is portraits and one of our favourite artists is Vik Muniz, an artist from Brazil. Vik has produced large scale portraits of famous icons using unusual materials such as coffee beans, spaghetti and diamonds. Some of our young have in the past created their own portraits using Muniz as a reference.

The Future is Unwritten
Enjoy the work you see here. The people who created it havn't often had the opportunity to express themselves and in doing so are taking a great leap; exploring the work of artists and their own imaginations. They're 21st century explorers; doing it themselves, doing it about things that matter to them. They're the new punks and like Joe said the future, for them, is unwritten.
